Thanksgiving Away From Home

While the majority of Americans will find themselves hosting family or traveling to be with loved ones for next week’s Thanksgiving holiday, not everyone has a big feast at home.  Sometimes people just either need or want to go out to eat on Thanksgiving.  Or maybe you don’t quite feel the Julia Child gene in the kitchen and think carrying out from a local eatery is the way to go.  Fear not Kansas City, Joyce Smith of the Kansas City Star has done the research for you this year.  She’s compiled a list of restaurants that are open for dinner on Thanksgiving as well as a few others that are serving carry-out meals.  To add on, we have a few additions to the list ourselves.  So, if you are looking for an alternative to staying at home next Thursday, here you go:

 

Dine-in Thanksgiving

▪ Affäre, Crossroads Arts District, 1911 Main St.: Regular brunch menu with specials from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and then four-course Thanksgiving dinner from 3 to 8 p.m., including Missouri elk brats and pumpkin cheesecake.

Cost: Varies for brunch. Dinner is $48 per person. It also will have a menu for children ages 14-and-under and smaller portions for senior citizens. 816-298-6182.

▪ The Brasserie Cafe & Bar, Crown Center, 1 E. Pershing Road: Brunch buffet includes traditional offerings, a made-to-order omelet station, a selection of freshly baked quiche and roast beef.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: $27 for adults and $14 for children ages 5-and-under. 816-391-4472.

▪ Bristol Seafood Grill, Power & Light District, 51 E. 14th St.: Thanksgiving buffet featuring turkey and carved prime rib and ham. It also will have its cold bar of assorted shellfish.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Cost: $36 for adults; $18 for children ages 4 to 12; children ages 3 and younger eat free. 816-448-6007.

▪ Fogo de Chão, Country Club Plaza, 222 W. 47th St.: Thanksgiving dinner including fire-roasted meats, roasted turkey breast, cranberry relish and sweet potato casserole.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Cost: $49.95 per person; half price for children ages 7 to 12; children under ages 6-and-under eat for free. 816-931-7700.

▪ Gordon Biersch Leawood, Park Place, 11652 Ash St., Leawood: It will offer limited appetizers.

Hours: 4 to 11 p.m.

▪ Gram & Dun, Country Club Plaza, 600 Ward Parkway: Gram & Dun favorites along with its spin on traditional holiday dishes.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Bar menu served from 9 to 11 p.m.

▪ The Grille at Park Place, 5270 W. 116th Place, Leawood: Tturkey, herb stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, butternut squash, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, corn bread, pumpkin or key lime pie.

Hours: 3 to 9 p.m.

▪ Lidia’s Kansas City, 101 W. 22nd St.: Thanksgiving dinner with family-style antipasti, choice of primi and secondi and desserts.

Hours: Noon to 6 p.m.

Cost: $45 per person for adults; $15 for children ages 12-and-under. 816-221-3722.

▪ República, Country Club Plaza, 4807 Jefferson St.: Featuring special Thanksgiving entrées and appetizers alongside República’s dinner menu.

Hours: 3 to 11 p.m.

Cost: Varies depending on order. 816-384-2500.

▪ Sullivan’s Steakhouse, 4501 W. 119th St., Leawood. Thanksgiving prix fixe turkey dinner, as well as steaks and seafood a la carte.

Hours: Noon to 8 p.m.

Cost: $39 per person. 913-345-0800.

▪ Summit Grill & Bar, 4835 N.E. Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit: Traditional dinner as well as entree options like lobster-stuffed salmon and honey-baked ham.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: Turkey dinner is $18.95 and available to-go. Prices vary for other entrees. 816-795-1299.

Take-out Thanksgiving dinners

▪ French Market, 6947 Tomahawk Road, Prairie Village: Thanksgiving orders can be placed until Nov. 24. Pickup is available from Monday to Wednesday. Menu items include turkey, sweet potatoes with candied pecans, traditional sage and celery stuffing, and cranberry and orange compote. 913-362-0803.

▪ Summit Grill & Bar, 4835 N.E. Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit: Turkey dinner to-go. Place your order by 5 p.m. Nov. 23 to pick up on Thanksgiving morning. 816-795-1299.
