NOW OPEN

Gram & Dun, the 3rd restaurant from the highly acclaimed restaurant group Bread & Butter Concepts opens today on the Country Club Plaza.  From the people who brought you BRGR and Urban Table in Prairie Village, Gram & Dun defines themselves as “a casual sophisticated gastropub & lounge.”  Located in the old Baja 600 location on the Plaza, Gram & Dun brings an entirely new concept to the Kansas City area.

The Gastropub is defined as a pub, but “one that concentrates on quality food. The name is a blend of pub and gastronomy and was coined in 1991 when David Eyre and Mike Belben took over The Eagle pub in Clerkenwell, London. The concept of a restaurant in a pub reinvigorated both pub culture and British dining, though has occasionally attracted criticism for potentially removing the character of traditional pubs.”

Gram & Dun’s focus on this theme is evident with their MENU along with the extensive offering of wines, craft beers, and specialty cocktails.  As noted in their press release Gram & Dun opens their doors today “as the place where comfort and sophistication conjoin. Designed to meet the standards of fine dining without losing the feel of a public house, the Gram & Dun menu presents the gastropub: not solely a bar and not just a restaurant, it’s a hybrid, offering a casual-meets-refined atmosphere that welcomes beer drinkers and wine snobs, open-minded eaters and foodies alike. It is focused on pairing beer, wine and cocktails with meals in order to ensure a complementary experience. The menu tempts guests with plates such as Shrimp Fries, French Onion Dumplings, Blackened Shrimp and Grits, Double Pork Chop, and the Flat Iron Steak Chimichurri Salad. With sides to share like Black’n Cauliflower, Creamed Bacon Brussel Sprouts, and specialty Seasoned Steak Fries, there’s something for every taste at Gram & Dun.”

If local owners, Alan Gaylin along with his partners Glynn & Jean Roberts, live up to the standards they set with BRGR and Urban Table, then Kansas City will be adding another shining star to the local foodie culture.
