After 22 years in business one of Johnson County’s best known bars is closing it’s doors on January 28th 2012. Paddy O’Quigley’s Leawood location at the corner of 119th and Roe has been slinging drinks since 1990 and over the years has become one of the go to places in Kansas City for St. Patrick’s day celebrating.
Owner Tom Intfen sent an email to loyal patrons yesterday announcing that Paddy’s will indeed close their doors on Saturday, January 28th. The email did not mention why the popular Irish bar and restaurant is closing, but there are rumors circulating about a disagreement with the landlord having led to this decision. If any further information or details become available, we’ll pass them along.
Below is the email sent out yesterday with all the details that have been made public at this point
They say “Home is where the Heart
Is” … well for the past 22 years, we have celebrated the holidays
with our family & friends at 119th & Roe, in Leawood, Southside Co.
Johnson. A while back we dubbed a slogan for the
Holidays ”When you come home for the holidays … come home to
Paddy O’Quigley’s” and we meant it. The holidays have always been a
humbling experience for us at 119th & Roe. The nights over Thanksgiving,
Christmas & New Years have been filled with many gatherings of families and
friends; we look to future generations to keep the tradition alive. Next to St.
Patrick’s Day & March Madness the holiday season is the greatest (and
truly my favorite) time of the year.
So now, with a heavy heart and 22 Years of thankful
appreciation and pride that I am saddened to announce, Paddy O’Quigley’s on
119th and Roe will serve it’s last beer for truly the last “Final,
Final” on Saturday, January 28th of 2012.
Having said that, be assured we will have numerous
countdowns of “Final Final’s” for all. We opened our doors in September
of 1990. Since then a lifetime of friendships have been made, families
have formed and children were born simply by the chance ’Luck of the Irish’ encounters
made walking thru our doors.
Generations of wit and wisdom have graced our bar stools
and sat at our tables. We’ve laughed and cheered, danced and karaokied. We have
celebrated feasting, imbibery and debauchery and we have Shamrock’d the
Southside with Quenchibility & Gusto. On Jan. 28th 2012, we are closing our
doors with our heads held high … and we are ‘Doing it Our Way’!!!
We are happy to announce that Paddy O’Quigley’s is
going to have one heck of a final, final Thanksgiving weekend. Wednesday, will
be the true holiday tip off, for pre Turkey Day festivities and it’s our
cheapest night for partying with $2 bottles, $2 wells & bargains on
Boulevard Beer. We’ll open again on Thanksgiving night with a traditional turkey
dinner and full bar to chase it all down on this Last Thanksgiving at
119th & Roe. Black Friday night will be a party
featuring ”The Mikey Needleman Band” who’ll be putting on
his annual holiday show. We’re hoping Mikey will be bringing in the new
year here too. Saturday is Karaoke as usual so we certainly hope you can join
us and hoist one for Thanks this Thanksgiving.
We are extremely humbled by the patronage and friendship
you’ve shown us since 1990. So please stay tuned, there is definitely more to
come. There will be so many more Final Finals to announce and some exciting
“New News” to follow us into 2012. Paddy O’Quigley’s isn’t leaving, just like
Regis it’s only going to get better. Paddy O’Quigley’s at 151st & Nall is
keeping our roots firmly planted in Leawood, where the Party on the Paddy’O
wll carry on there as well as our Northland store.
This holiday season, please remember and be thankful for
the men and women of our military who sacrifice to serve and protect
freedom throughout the world. For those who serve that we must be sincerely
Happy Thanksgiving, God Bless America, God Bless You
& Yours … Slainte
P.S. … Swing Crew is coming Friday
